Torraca Gemcutting offers precision repair of colored gemstones for the jewelry trade. Many gemstone repair services focus primarily on making damaged stones shiny as quickly and cheaply as possible. This approach may save money, but usually at the expense of the gem itself. Precision repair is a deliberately careful, balanced approach to colored gemstone repair emphasizing:
- minimal weight loss
- maintaining outer dimensions of original stone as much as possible
- matching or improving symmetry of both outline and facet arrangement
- matching or improving the polish of the existing stone
- maximizing the “Oh, Wow!” response from your client.
TGC Precision Repair service also includes complimentary consulting. I’m happy to speak with you, your staff or even directly with your client (at your request) about any aspect of the repair process, including the risks, advisability and advantages of the repair.
Pricing varies on a per job basis depending on complexity, material and client specifications. I provide quotes after evaluating the project and before beginning work. Generally, most repair jobs end up in the $125-$200 range. Full recuts (crown and pavilion) are usually $300 or more.

While I will reply to retail inquiries, I will never quote prices to retail clients and will always direct them to an established jeweler.
